ABOUT THE EVENT

OUR kind of NVH gathering — is always built on knowledge practice.

Sound "Intensity Day" @ SAM is a one-day workshop designed to bring together industry professionals, researchers, and engineers around the topic of sound intensity and particle velocity. Through focused talks and hands-on sessions, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the principles behind PU probe technology, explore practical measurement applications, and see how Microflown solutions can support advanced noise and vibration analysis in real-world engineering environments.

This event intends to build bridges from industry users to research and engineering practice in a small focus group.

Explore Particle Velocity and Sound Intensity in Practice

Why Participate

The workshop is especially relevant for engineers working with sound source localization, sound power determination, absorption testing or complex NVH troubleshooting. By combining technical explanation with practical measurement sessions, participants can better understand where particle velocity adds value and how PU probe measurements can be applied in real test environments.

MORNING
THEORETICAL FUNDAMENTALS & APPLICATIONS
Facility tour & introduction
The team of the Laboratory will show you around the facility of SAM Darmstadt. You will see the Anechoic & Semi anechoic Chamber as well as the Reverberation room, where we will also hold the practical experiments.
Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS) & panel damping optimization
Presented by an expert of the Microflown scientific developer team >> This workshop introduces a practical approach to visualizing Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS) using Microflown’s particle velocity–based measurement technology. Participants will learn how to identify and quantify structural vibrations, visualize frequency-dependent deflection patterns, and correlate structural behavior with acoustic radiation. Through real-world examples and hands-on demonstrations, the workshop will show how ODS analysis can be used to diagnose NVH issues, identify dominant vibration paths, and support effective design improvements.
Car interior noise investigation | Using 3D sound intensity
Practical Application presented by an industrial user. Presented by Engin Güven from Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center
Robotics integration in vibro-acoustic testing
This workshop introduces robotic acoustic scanning, which combines Scan&Paint 3D with Universal Robots for automated and highly repeatable acoustic measurements. Participants will learn how robotic scanning can improve measurement efficiency, access challenging environments, and provide high-resolution sound intensity mapping for advanced NVH investigations.
AFTERNOON
HANDS-ON & DISCUSSION
We will provide snacks and a light meal, as well as drinks.
Interactive workshop & measurement demos
The Team of Microflown, SAM and MEQ Technologies will provide hands on workshops in 3 parallel session or work stations in each space. Each experiment will show you a highlighted new application of PU probes.
  • 1. INSITU Absorbtion Measurements | Hosted by Michael Kerscher - MEQ

  • 2. • 3D Sound Intensity Mapping with Robotic Acoustic Scanning | hosted by Jared Schmal - Microflown

  • 3. • 2D Acoustic Imaging (Static & Dynamic) | Hosted by Dani Fernandez - Microflown

    Coffee Break | Personal Exchange
Mingle with other users to exchange ideas and expiriences.
Panel Discussion — The Future of NVH testing
Discuss your view on test and measurement technology for the applications ahead with industry experts. Our Host Ali Movahed will guidethrough the discussion.

    Intensity Day 2026

is a seminar and workshop which is organized by MEQ, Microflown and the SAM in Darmstadt. Your participation is free of charge.

You want to be part of this event?:

I agree to a no-show fee of 95€ excl. VAT:

You may cancel your registration up to 48h before the event. It is also possible to have a colleague participate in your place. Please provide the name of your colleague via info@meqtechnologes.com so that we can prepare a name badge.

During this event we will take pictures and videos. Do you give us permission to use these pictures for communication purposes?:

I want to participate the following hands-on workshop topic (these are parallel sessions):

      Network of peers
Engage in open discussion with industry users and researchers — not like a scientific conference, a two-way exchange & knowledge community.
      Neutral ground
Hosted at the SAM — a respected university institution and industry partner. Vendor-independent, user & application-driven. This is the perfect place for a free exchange with other engineers.

      Shape the agenda

Independent if you are a user or partner, you help define the content and the value of this event — making this relevant to the challenges every engineers face.
      Real-world visibility
Share your experience and learn from other NVH engineers from different industries. Here we network and build bridges across industries.
